RFT is no longer offering the Intro to Handguns course.
The first half of this 8 hour course of instruction is the half day Defensive Carbine course. The second half of the day emphasizes use of cover, close in and distant threat engagements.
This is a 4+ hour course designed to take a student already familiar with hunting or military-style rifles and teach them the skills necessary to engage targets at 7 to 100 yards, depending on your weapons platform. Timed limits are introduced, but not used for qualification. Students can qualify with any rifle they choose including 22 LR. Students may have multiple chances to qualify and/or improve their qualification scores, but are held to a no-miss standard.
Rifle w/ 3 magazines and sling
Handgun if desired w/ 3 magazines or 2 speed loaders
Sturdy belt and holster if using handgun
Magazine pouches for rifle and handgun
Round count: 250 rifle (1/2 day), 500 rifle (full day),
50 handgun(1/2day) -100 handgun (full day)
Ear protection, eye protection (wrap around)
Comfortable and durable clothing (dress for the weather)
Water / Hydration system
Sun Screen / Insect repellent
Intro to Rifle, or equivalent training.
All citizens wanting to take this class must possess at the time of their registration a valid concealed weapon carry permit from their state of residence. If your state has no permit, then a letter of reference from your local police chief stating your good intentions and standing under the law will suffice. You are not authorized to receive this training if you have prior felony convictions, history of domestic violence, substance abuse, or mental illness history.
