Defensive Handgun

Cost - $90 for each 1/2 Day course $150 for a full day combined

This course will be held on the lower range starting 9am unless otherwise noted.  We are combining DH2 and DH3 on certain days to allow for a full day of training for those who travel far or simply want to maximize the day.  Students can take just one portion if they wish but must have DH2 or equivalent training to take DH3 only.  Note the ammo count is for each course.  If taking DH2 & 3 on the same day, you must double the round count.

This list applies to all three courses.  Students should utilize their own firearms.  Limited equipment rentals are available.  (see link below)


Pistol/Revolver Sturdy belt and holster (no serpa style) 

Minimum 3 magazines or speed loaders

Ear protection, eye protection (wrap around) 

Water bottles / Hydration system

Defensive Handgun 1 - (DH1) 1/2 Day $90

The goals of this course are first, to make sure that you are SAFE and  ACCURATE in the handling of your firearms.  Second, to establish the  foundation for follow-on defensive handgun training by teaching the  student how to draw and engage a threat in a tactically sound manner.   This is a 4+ hour course designed to take a student already familiar  with handguns and teach them the skills necessary to draw from the  holster and engage targets from 3 to 25 yards.

Defensive Handgun 2 - (DH2) 1/2 Day $90

This  course builds on the skills learned from the DH 1 course, and  introduces the student to shooting on the move, 360 degree engagements,  and emphasizes malfunction clearance and proactive sustainment.  Topics  covered:


-Individual assessment
-Weapons safety

-Proper draw and presentation

-Proper reholstering

-Discuss and demonstrate proper equipment

-Fundamentals of pistol shooting:  Sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control

-Proper fighting stance

-Efficient grip

-Accuracy versus speed

-Weapons manipulation--Know your gun!

-Reloads--proactive and reactive

-Multiple target engagements

-Type 1, 2, and 3 malfunctions, how to avoid, how to cure

-Turning and pivoting to engage

-Shooting while moving forwards/backwards
 

Defensive Handgun 3 - (DH3) 1/2 Day $90

This  course centers on use of cover in structures and on the street as well  as dynamic shooting.  Long range shooting and refined application of  the fundamentals are also a primary focus.

-Differences between cover and concealment

-Engaging a threat from a vehicle

Prerequisites

Students must have Know Your Gun or equivalent training prior to beginning the series.


All  citizens wanting to take this class must possess at the time of their registration a valid concealed weapon carry permit from their state of residence. If your state has no permit, then a letter of reference from your local police chief stating your good intentions and standing under the law will suffice.  You are not authorized to receive this training if you have prior felony convictions, history of domestic  violence, substance abuse, or mental illness history.

If you have a discount code please make a deposit then contact us to make the rest of the payment.  Students making a deposit must pay the remainder in full with cash the day of training.
