Please refer to the pictures and descriptions below when choosing a holster to bring to our course. THESE RESTRICTIONS ARE FOR SAFETY REASONS WHEN ON THE RANGE. The "restricted" holsters listed on this page will work for regular carry when you are not drawing and returning to the holster constantly.
Range holsters must be able to retain an open position whether or not a firearm is inserted. They can be made of most materials such as Kydex, stiff leather, stiff cloth or other plastic type material. You must be able to return the gun to the holster without using your hand or fingers to open the top of the holster. Your pants and belt must also be fitting enough that you do not have to "hold" your holster in order to keep it in place when returning or drawing the handgun.
These unacceptable holsters require the wearer to open the top with the non-shooting hand before re-inserting the gun thus flagging the shooters hand every time they re-holster.
Serpa style holsters require the shooter to press the release button with their trigger finger often causing the trigger finger to be on the trigger during the remainder of the draw. There have been numerous negligent discharges directly related to this holster around the Country. They will not be allowed on the range.
